I didn’t even try to look for this because I knew there was no chance of finding one where I live. But after a disappointing search for a DVD copy of Tropic Thunder, I nearly exploded with excitement when I saw a copy of Detention on the shelf. They hardly rearrange that part of the store, so I’m surprised I didn’t see it sooner. I go to that place at least once a week, hoping to find more movies that most people wouldn’t expect to find.

I watched the film three times within two days. Joseph Khan is amazing! He combined all these different elements together so well. It’s ridiculously fast, witty, and really clever. I love the way the scenes were shot, and I thought the cast was extremely good. There was never, I mean NEVER, a dull moment.

I finally completed my list of top 3 favorite films. The first one is definitely Sucker Punch, then it’s Detention, and then Across the Universe. If Sucker Punch was delivered like a sucker punch, Detention was like a couple of jabs to the stomach, a few slaps on the face with an occasional flick on nose. Then when you least expect it, you get thwacked at the back of your head by the pure genius of it all.
